Troubleshooting

What is Troubleshooting?

Troubleshooting is the methodical process of diagnosing and resolving problems or anomalies in a system—in our case, the LokalFi network. Whether you're dealing with connectivity issues, performance lags, or any other technical challenges, this section is your go-to resource for finding solutions.

Why is Troubleshooting Important?

Even the best-configured networks can run into hiccups. Being equipped to identify and resolve these issues quickly ensures minimal disruption and maintains the quality of service. Effective troubleshooting helps you get your LokalFi network back to optimal performance with minimal downtime.

Common Issues and How to Solve Them

  1. Connectivity Problems: If you're unable to connect to LokalFi, make sure the Kacific Broadband Modem or Starlink (depending on your setup) has a stable connection. Rebooting the modem and the MikroTik hAP lite router can often solve minor glitches.

  2. Slow Performance: If you're facing lag or slow speeds, check if the ASUS TS300-E9-PS4 server is running optimally. Also, check the outdoor WiFi access point to ensure it's not overloaded or facing interference.

  3. Limited Range: If the network isn't reaching as far as it should, adjust the settings on the outdoor WiFi access point or consider adding an additional one for wider coverage.

  4. App Issues: For problems specific to LokalFi apps like LokalFlix or MathPlus, ensure you are connected to the correct network and that the Main Computing Unit is running without issues.

What Next?

If you've gone through these steps and are still encountering problems, it might be time to delve deeper or seek professional assistance. Document any error messages or unusual behavior as these details can be invaluable for more advanced troubleshooting.
